feature listings for set date range

I am wondering if this is possible or not...I am using mtree to list movies. Each movie is categorized by release date in 4 categories; this week, this month, coming soon and archives.
I initially add my listings to the COMING SOON list which is generally for the next months movies. I then have to manually copy these listings into THIS MONTH and THIS WEEK.
I set the publish dates so listings in THIS MONTH appear for the appropriate month and then THIS WEEK I feature listings with publish dates set to the appropriate week. I feature these listings so they appear in the FEATURED module.
When the month is over I manually move them to archives and delete expired listings in each category.

I am wondering if there is a simpler way to manage this?? I was thinking of having them show up in the appropriate category based on the publish date. And show up as featured only if within 7 days of current date.

Anyone have suggestions and costs to have this mod developped?
